Investigative on criminal case initiated on AZAL plane crash continues: Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan

Investigative measures are continuing on the criminal case initiated on the fact of the crash of an Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC on a Baku-Grozny flight near the city of Aktau on December 25, the Prosecutor General's Office told APA.

It was noted that, in accordance with the instructions and instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has been in intensive contact with the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Berik Asylov, the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, as well as the Prosecutor General of Brazil Paulo Gonet since the day the incident occurred.

“In addition, in order to conduct a full, objective and comprehensive investigation of the incident, large-scale investigative actions were carried out at the scene with the participation of professional investigators and specialists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Brazil.

During discussions with his Kazakh counterpart Berik Asylov, Kamran Aliyev exchanged views on the correct legal assessment of the evidence collected regarding the incident, and expressed gratitude for the examination of the scene, the collection of initial evidence in the case and the investigation of other important circumstances, the implementation of joint necessary investigative and procedural actions, as well as the comprehensive determination of the details of the incident.

During a conversation with the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General noted that the employees of the Azerbaijani prosecutor's office seconded to the city of Grozny were provided with necessary support by their Russian colleagues, emphasizing the need for effective cooperation in conducting the investigation of the criminal case and the exchange of evidence collected by both sides in the case.

Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastryk called Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev and informed him that an investigation group consisting of professional investigators and criminologists had been created in order to conduct a full, comprehensive and objective investigation of the criminal case being investigated in Russia, that the causes and circumstances of the incident, including the fact that the plane crash occurred as a result of external interference, were being thoroughly investigated, and intensive investigative and operational measures were being continued to identify the guilty parties and bring them to criminal responsibility.

The Prosecutor General's Office will regularly inform the public about the progress of the investigation, the Prosecutor General's Office said.
