Bringing to criminal responsibility Vagif Khachatryan, who was detained in connection with Meshali events, complies with the norms of international and national law, said Mahir Abbasov, Head of the Department at Azerbaijan Prosecutor's Office, APA reports.
He stated that a number of historical and legal events have happened after the 44-day Patriotic War: “Persons who have committed war crimes against peace and humanity, our citizens were prosecuted and legal judgments were passed against them in the criminal proceedings of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
Mahir Abbasov, who said that Vagif Khachatryan’s criminal prosecution is in accordance with international and national legal norms, stressed that this practice exists in the criminal proceedings of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It was also stated that in accordance with criminal legislation in force, criminal prosecution time does not apply crimes against peace, humanity, and war.
