The captain of a Russian ship suffered a health issue while sailing in the Caspian Sea and was rescued and taken to the hospital, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
According to the report, the State Border Service’s Coast Guard Command continues to monitor maritime traffic and conduct rescue operations in the Caspian Sea. On February 19, an emergency alert was received by the Coast Guard and Border Control Commands regarding a serious health issue faced by Captain Zhelyazkov Andrey Stepanovich of the Russian-flagged cargo ship POLA ANFISA within Azerbaijan’s territorial waters in the Caspian Sea.
Immediate measures were taken, and a border patrol vessel was dispatched to the given coordinates. The vessel swiftly reached the cargo ship and successfully evacuated the captain. After receiving initial medical assistance, he was safely transported to Zira Port and later transferred to M.A. Afandiyev City Clinical Hospital No. 2 under medical supervision.
