The request from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the extradition of Namik Kemal Akdi, a Turkish citizen born in 1995, to face criminal charges has been granted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
It was reported that A.N. Kemal, who had been internationally wanted for committing fraud in Uzbekistan, was identified and arrested in October 2024 in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and a detention measure was imposed on him.
In accordance with the Convention dated 2002 on "Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters", a decision was made for the extradition of the accused, and he was handed over to the competent authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the escort of a special convoy from the Ministry of Justice Penitentiary Service.
