Azerbaijan detained 21 foreign border violators in January

During January, 30 people were detained for violating the state border, APA reports citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.

Of those detained, 9 were Azerbaijani, 18 were Pakistani, 2 were Iranian, and 1 was from Uzbekistan.

As a result of measures to combat illegal migration, 8 individuals were detained while attempting to cross the state border with fake date stamps and passports, or with documents belonging to others.

Due to violations of border regime rules, 898 individuals were detained, and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As part of the fight against crime, law enforcement agencies detained 288 individuals who were wanted and handed them over to the relevant authorities, while preventing 444 individuals, who were banned from leaving the country, from leaving, and 21 individuals, whose entry was banned, from entering the country.

As a result of measures to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, 167 kilograms and 336 grams of narcotics and 16,867 tablets, which are classified as powerful psychoactive substances, were discovered and removed from illegal circulation.

As a result of the combat against smuggling activities, smuggled goods worth a total of USD 3 million 242 thousand 178 were found, including a silencer, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products, have been revealed and seized.

Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border continue.
