Each ship had 6 Azerbaijani sailors, with a total of 18 crew members, the press secretary of the State Maritime and Port Agency, Parvana Imanova told APA.

According to her, the Agency is also in regular contact with the Azerbaijani branch of the Caspian Marine Services B.V. company, which owns the ships.

"The company reports that communication with the ships is maintained daily, the ships are supplied with food and other necessities on time, and relevant assistance is provided for communication between the crew and their families," the Agency official emphasized.

The Agency official also noted that, according to the information provided by the company, the ships entered the territorial waters of Eritrea due to a sharp change in weather conditions.

Parvana Imanova recalled that on November 7, 2024, the Azerbaijan branch of "Caspian Marine Services B.V." reported to DDLA regarding the detention of 3 ships belonging to the company by the competent authorities of the state of Eritrea: "Immediately, the Agency informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a working basis. In addition, the Agency sent official letters with relevant information to the competent maritime authority of the state of Eritrea, as well as to the CIS, Eritrea's permanent mission to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the Embassy of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland."
