Baku building collapse injures 5

The witnesses say several workers fell. The inured were hospitalized. Some workers and witnesses say that there is loss of life. The number of dead and injured is said to be over ten.
There were a lot of workers on the 21st storey when the accident happened. Though officers of Sabayel Prosecutorâ€™s Office and State Labor Inspection arrived in the site first, the security of the building did not let them in. The officer of State Labor Inspection Razi Bayramzadeh told journalists that according to the preliminary reports there is loss of life and injured.
â€œBut we cannot make it clear as we are not allowed to the site,â€? he said.
The specialists of Emergencies Ministry and General Prosecutorâ€™s Office are working on the site.
Kamil Bagirov, officer of Emergencies Ministry told journalists that negligence of safety rules caused the accident.
â€œInvestigations are being carried out. Additional information will be given about the investigation,â€? he said.
Sabayel district police officer Rafael Rajabov said that criminal case has been launched on the fact. He said that four injured as a result of the accident. Three of them are workers, one is passer-by. The inspector said that seven cars were damaged as a result of the accident.
Deputy Emergencies Minister Orujeli Hajiyev the accident happened during concrete laying when wooden constructions could not resist and collapsed. Four workers and one passer-by were injured. One of them is in critical condition. He was hospitalized at a private medical center MediClub Center. The deputy minister said that 16-member group has been composed of officers of Emergencies Ministry and Sabayel prosecutorâ€™s office and investigations are being carried out at present.
â€œAll works have been stopped in the building. There is no problem in general.
The accident happened during concrete laying on the 20th floor. The construction of the building will continue,â€? he said.
Hajiyev also added that the company constructing the building will pay compensation to the owners of the cars damaged during the accident.
â€œWe talked to the company. The list of the cars damaged during the accident was taken and their owners will be paid compensation,â€? he said.
Sabayel Deputy Prosecutor Elchin Sultanov said that criminal case has been launched on the fact.
â€œThe site is being investigated by the group. Measures are being taken for determining the people injured during the accident,â€? he said.
Sultanov noted that the building is being constructed by Libra MMC. The injured hospitalized at the Institute of Traumotology and Orthopedics are in critical conditions. The doctor told the APA the injured are 51-year old Imishli resident Tahmazov Farhad, 36-year old Astara resident Nematov Vagif, 30-year old Lokbatan resident Mammadov Zakir and 23-year old Fuzuli resident Ibadov Elmeddin.
