Azerbaijani National Security Ministry exposes persons pretending to be representatives of Russ-Island and swindling citizens
It was found out that Shalva Malashvili, who introduced himself as Alexander Malashevski, and Yashar Huseynov swindled citizens using the name of Russ-Island. The house they rented and Shalva Malashvili’s house were searched and documents proving their crimes were seized.
Shalva Malashvili got acquainted with Yashar Huseynov in December, 2009. He introduced himself to Yashar Huseynov as citizen of Russian Federation and Czech Republic, pretended to be employee of the Georgian office of the International Police Association and showed the counterfeit certificate. Later, Shalva Malashvili and Yashar Huseynov agreed to embezzle money of the Azerbaijani citizens under the pretext of sending them to Island to work. Shalva Malashvili and Yashar Huseynov prepared advertisements under the name of Russ-Island, hung them in various places of the city and placed them in the newspaper. Shalva Malashvili introduced themselves to the applicants as the representative of Georgian office of Interpol or International Police Association, Yashar Huseynov as the officer of Russian Federal Security Service. They told the citizens that $1800-4500 salary was paid in various spheres in Island, $450 was to pay for the air ticket beforehand, the rest of the money for the ticket would be checked off from the salary within six months. The citizens signed the employment agreement prepared by Shalva Malashvili and Yashar Huseynov and payed for the counterfeit air tickets. So, from January 15, 2010 till February 23 Shalva Malashvili and Yashar Huseynov deceived 50 individuals, swindled each of them of $450, totally $22 500.
Investigation Department of the National Security Ministry has launched criminal case on the fact on articles 178.3.2 (swindling of a large sum of money), 320.1 (fake of certificate or other official document giving the rights or releasing from duties, with a view of its use or selling of such document, as well as manufacturing in same purposes or selling of counterfeit state awards of the Azerbaijan Republic) and 320.2 (deliberate use of counterfeit documents) of the Criminal Code. Shalva Malashvili and Yashar Huseynov have been arrested.
Investigation is underway.
As the illegal actions of Shalva Malashvili and Yashar Huseynov are not supposedly restricted to the abovementioned, those who suffered from their illegal actions are asked to contact the National Security Ministry and its district bodies. Telephone: 405-99-99 and 405-84-87.
