Three families were evacuated from the disaster area and settled temporarily in secure places. One of the families was settled in their relative’s house and other two – in the building of local ambulatory. Huseynov said the evacuated families would receive appropriate privileges from the government.

Local residents told APA correspondent that they have resided in the area since 1990. First landslide took place there 7-8 years ago and forced one family to move from the disaster area because of further landslide threats.

Staff members of the South Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations immediately arrived at site and learned the situation. Power and gas supply of the houses in disaster area was stopped. The experts said if the landslide intensified they would evacuate 7-8 families more.

An emergency situation was created in Mashkhan village of Astara, in neighborhood with landslide-settlement. A piece of rock of about 100 tons broke off from the place and created threat for nearby houses.

Huseynov said experts of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources examined the area and decided that the rock should be exploded or prevented by a dam.
