General Prosecutorâ€™s Office holds meeting

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. Azerbaijani General Prosecutorâ€™s Office has held a meeting on the wok done in 2009 and tasks lying ahead.

Press service of General Prosecutorâ€™s Office told APA that Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov made a speech at the meeting. It was noted that 2009 was remembered with important events in the socio-political life of the country. Azerbaijanâ€™s prosecuting authorities along with other law-enforcement bodies took necessary measures to maintain socio-political stability and peace in the country, strengthen struggle against crimes, protect the stateâ€™s independence and citizensâ€™ rights and freedoms. In the reporting period the efforts of the prosecuting authorities first aimed to fulfill the tasks arising from the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, continue the reforms in the new context, increase the efficiency of the work, eliminate the faults and negative cases.

It was noted that the structure of the Scientific-Educational Center of the General Prosecutorâ€™s Office had been improved and new Zagatala military prosecutorâ€™s office established, instructions were given to continue taking measures in this direction.

Prosecutor General noted the shortcomings in the activity of the prosecuting authorities and gave concrete instructions to eliminate them.

First Assistant Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov spoke about the work done to organize struggle against crimes, preliminary investigation and procedural management of the preliminary investigation, to protect the citizensâ€™ rights and freedoms, Assistant Prosecutor General Namig Asgarov gave information about the work done to establish centralized information communication system in the prosecuting authorities as a part of the â€œState Program on modernization of the activity of Azerbaijanâ€™s General Prosecutorâ€™s Office for 2009-2011â€, chief of organizational-analytical department of General Prosecutorâ€™s Office Azizaga Hasanov gave information about the fulfillment of the working plan of General Prosecutorâ€™s Office for the second half of 2009 and draft working plan for the first half year of 2010.
â€œSpecial dataâ€ information system was presented at the meeting.
Depending on the results of the discussions, instructions were given to establish necessary basis for the work of the new system and its operation from early January, 2010.
