Court sentences Nigerians selling narcotic drugs in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The Court of Grave Crimes ended hearing on the case of the Nigerians engaged in the sale of drugs in Azerbaijan, APA reports. Ahmad Guliyev presided over the hearing. The court found the defendants guilty. Under the judgment of the court, Nigerians – Ojuederiyev James Ogeneruem, Ogbonna Sabastin Okechunku, Okvara Filip Namdi have been sentenced to 15 years in jail. Peter Onajite Michael, Davies Olluvasegun Isala, Nduka Valentin have been acquitted.

According to the indictment, the defendants smuggled narcotic drugs from Azerbaijan to China. 16kg heroin was seized from them.

Nigerians faced charges under article 206.4 (smuggling), 234.4.1, 234.4.2, 234.4.3 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code.
