Azerbaijani citizens fought against coalition forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan partly plead guilty

On Monday, the Court of Grave Crimes held a court survey on the criminal case of the Azerbaijani citizens fought against the NATO and coalition forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to APA, during the process presided by Judge Rasim Sadigov, defendants Anar Bilalov and Aziz Gurbanov partly pleaded guilty. They acknowledged that they were in Afghanistan, but didn’t participate in the military operations.

The process will be continued on December 25.

According to the indictment, defendants Anar Bilalov and Aziz Gurbanov passed military trainings in Afghanistan early 2008 and fought against the coalition forces in the group of Azerbaijanis and Turks. They were detained by the Ministry of National Security in January, 2009. They are facing with charges under the article 279.1 (establishing illegal armed groups supplying them with arms, ammunitions, explosives, technical equipments) and 318 (trespassing the state borders) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
