Grand Chamber of European Court to consider appeals of Azerbaijani IDPs against Armenia

The total sum of the fines imposed on Azerbaijan is € 50,000 – 60,000. Azerbaijan’s authorized representative in the European Court of Human Rights Chingiz Asgarov told journalists, APA reports.

He said according to unofficial reports from the European Union, the number of the appeals from Azerbaijan has reduced. Asgarov said appeals from Azerbaijan concerned all the rights envisaged in the European Convention.
“Concrete six decisions concern freedom of peaceful assembly envisaged in article 11 of the Convention, right to a fair trial envisaged in article 6 and article 3 prohibiting torture, and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment,” he said.

Chingiz Asgarov said the Chamber of the European Court considered the appeals of Azerbaijani IDPs against Armenia.
“The Chamber decided that the issue should be considered in the Grand Chamber. It will be considered in the Chamber panel of 17 judges. The hearing will be held. The process will probably last till the end of next year,” he said.
