Human rights defender meets with jailed journalist

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. Member of the Human Rights Organizations Monitoring Group, chairman of the Democracy and Human Rights Committee Chingiz Ganizadeh met with the reporter of Bizim Yol newspaper Mushfig Huseynov, who suffered from tuberculosis and undergoes treatment at the specialized medical center of the Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service. Ganizadeh told APA that Mushfig Huseynov joined the international DOTS project for treatment of tuberculosis for 50 days. He said he lost his weight and suffered from poor appetite, but he didnâ€™t complain about the detention supervisors. â€œMushfig said he didnâ€™t want to make noisy report in the press. He addressed the Pardon Commission and hoped for soonest release from the jailâ€.

Ganizadeh said they sent a letter on behalf of the human rights defenders to the government agencies for releasing of Mushfig Huseynov. â€œWe are looking forward that the journalist, who has serious health problem, will be pardonedâ€.

Ganizadeh said Azadeliq newspaper editor Ganimat Zahidâ€™s health problems also concerned the monitoring group. â€œThe monitoring group is planning to meet with Ganimat Zahid in the next few daysâ€.
