Eyyub Karimov confesses in court he made some mistakes in articles about Interior Ministry

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. Yasamal district court has today held the next hearing on the suit filed by Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov against editor-in-chief of the Femida 007 newspaper Eyyub Karimov, APA reports. Khagani Tagiyev presided over the hearing. Eyyub Karimov clarified his views published in the Azadlig and Femida 007 newspapers. He said the views published in the mentioned articles had been taken from Ramil Usubovâ€™s interview to the Hesabat magazine.
â€œIn his interview to the Hesabat magazine in 2005, Honorable Ramil Usubov spoke about the crimes committed by former department chief Haji Mammadov. The minister also confessed that a criminal like Haji Mammadov had hidden in the ministry for 11 years. My views about the Interior Ministry were based on this,â€ he said.

Karimov confessed that he had made some mistakes in the articles about the Interior Ministry, but said he did not slander Ramil Usubov or persons working in interior bodies.
â€œThere is a technical mistake in one of my article. But we made clarification concerning it in the newspaper on December 5. Everyone can make mistake. It is not right to regard my views as slander,â€ he said.

The defendant asked to send his articles for examination. The court gave time to the sides to prepare the questions. The hearing will continue on December 8.

Interior Minister Ramil Usubov filed a suit against Eyyub Karimov on article 147.2 (the slander, which is connected with accusation of committing serious or especially serious crime) of the Criminal Code. Eyyub Karimovâ€™s articles about the Interior Ministry published in the Azadlig and Femida 007 newspapers caused this.
