Thousands of pilgrims faced danger in the aftermath of the downpour on the first day of the Hajj pilgrimage. The pilgrims moving towards Mecca had to stop as the highway was flooded. Local authorities say the flooding killed at least 48 people, but there is little probability that there are pilgrims among them. Two bridges on the way to Mecca have also been flooded. Electric substations have gone out of order in some regions of Mecca, electricity has been cut off.
