Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. “Only one person was detained in Ganja. His name is Goja Guliyev, not Gachag as written in media. He is our relative. But he is not Abbas Abbasov’s nephew. He is my mother’s relative,” MP Aydin Abbasov told APA while commenting on media reports about his relatives’ arrest in Ganja.

Abbasov said Goja Guliyev’s detention has nothing to do with Abbas Abbasov and his family. He said Goja Guliyev’s house was not searched.
“He meets with his family. No accusations have been brought against him yet, investigation is underway,” he said.

Aydin Abbasov refuted the reports that Goja Guliyev worked in his security service.
“I do not have security service. Goja Guliyev is a businessman. It is absurd to link it to Abbas Abbasov. Now Abbas Abbasov is neither in politics, nor holds a government post,” he said.

According to media reports, Interior Ministry’s Department to Combat Organized Crimes carried out a special operation in Ganja and rendered harmless the members of the gang led by a person known as Gochu. The organized gang is accused of blackmailing and embezzling the money of the citizens, including several officials. As a result of the operations, all the members of the gang and Gochu were detained and brought to Baku. Investigation continues to solve their crimes. Ganja police office confirmed the fact to APA, but did not give detailed information about the operation.

According to other media reports, head of the gang Goja Aliyev, aka Gochu, is close relative of the former first Deputy Prime Minister Abbas Abbasov. He blackmailed his relative, Abbas Abbasov’s son MP Aydin Abbasov.

16kg narcotic drugs and a lot of DVDs were found in his house.
