Interior bodies confiscate more than 908 kg drug in Azerbaijan this year

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. 222 people were brought to justice in Azerbaijan for human trafficking in January-September, 2009, Interior Ministryâ€™s Operation and Statistics Office reported. The crimes against women were reduced 13.7% and 58.5% of those crimes were committed by women.

The interior bodies confiscated more than 908 kg drug in the past period, which is 60.8% more than indications of same period of last year. As a result of operational measures, smuggling of 260 kg drug was prevented. 1837 of 1956 arrested drug traffickers were the people with labor ability, but not working or studying, 392 â€“ previously convicted, 65 â€“ women, 4- children. 289 crimes, including 73 grave and specially grave crimes committed in previous years were cleared.

The crimes committed by previously convicted people were reduced 4.6% as against same period of 2008, by not working and studying people â€“ 3.9%, by children â€“ 14.5%.

1894 (57.4%) wanted people, including 256 (7.8%) persons being subject of grave and specially grave crimes were detained. 659 (69.1%) of 954 missing people were identified.

11133 people were brought to justice in January-September, 2009. 9329 (83.8%) of them are not working and studying people, 1474 (13.2%) â€“ women, 1268 (11.4%) â€“ previously convicted, 259 (2.3%) â€“ children.
