“Forest brothers” begin last pleas

Baku – APA. Hearing on the case of the 26-men organized gang, which is accused of forming a group “Forest brothers”, committing a number of crimes, including terror attack on Abu Bakr mosque in Narimanov district continued in the Court of Grave Crimes on Tuesday, APA reports. Judge Karamat Aliyev presided over the hearing. The defendants’ lawyers finalized their addresses to the court. Defendant Zaur Jafarov’s lawyer Muzaffer Bakhishov said incorrect indictment was read against his client. “It is incorrect to charge Zaur Jafarov under articles 279.1 and 228.3. No preliminary nor court investigation has proved his guilt”. Bakhishov demanded absolution for his client. Defendant Kamran Bozorgi also denied charges against him and threatened with unlimited hunger strike.
Defendant Vahid Asadov said he repented his actions and asked the court to ease his sentence.


The hearing will continue on October 23.

The defendants faced charges under Articles 214 (terrorism), 120 (premeditated murder), 279 (creation of armed formations or groups, which are not provided by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code.
