Lawyers demand absolution for â€œforest brothersâ€

Baku â€“ APA. Hearing on the case of the 26-men organized gang, which is accused of forming a group â€œForest brothersâ€, committing a number of crimes, including terror attack on Abu Bakr mosque in Narimanov district continued in the Court of Grave Crimes on Tuesday, APA reports. Judge Karamat Aliyev presided over the hearing. The defendantsâ€™ lawyers continued their addresses to the court. Turkish citizen Yamin Aliâ€™s lawyer said her client is guilty only under the article 318.2 (illegal crossing border of the Azerbaijan Republic, committed on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or organized group either with application of violence or with threat of its application) of the Criminal Code. The lawyer asked the court for absolution of his client from charges of other articles.

Lawyers of Kamran Bozorgi, Elkhan Gasimov and Khalid Valimatov also said their clients were not guilty and asked absolution for them.

The hearing will continue on October 22 with the speeches of other lawyers.

The defendants faced charges under Articles 214 (terrorism), 120 (premeditated murder), 279 (creation of armed formations or groups, which are not provided by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code.
