The incident took place at about 19.00 on Saturday. Adviser to the Georgian government minister for re-integration affairs Savalan Mirzayev told APA that the priests entered into the mosque in Aghtehle village and demanded the praying young people to leave and to close the mosque. “They told the villagers that the mosque was built illegally and will be removed soon. The villagers addressed the regional authorities. Head of the local executive power of Gardabani region Zviad Eptashvili and police chief Levan Aburjania visited the village together with me. We talked with the priests. They promised further not to enter the Agtehle mosque. We visited the village once again on Sunday. There was calmness in the villagerâ€.
Aghtehle mosque was built in 2007. Savalan Mirzayev said the mosque was built legally.
