Gang composed of Pakistan and Uzbekistan citizens engaged in drug trafficking stand trial

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Court of Grave Crimes held a preliminary hearing on the case of four members of the organized gang composed of Pakistan and Uzbekistan citizens who were engaged in drug trafficking, APA reports. Alovsat Abbasov presided over the hearing. Citizen of Uzbekistan Mastura Khojayeva asked the court to ensure participation of the representatives of Uzbekistan’s embassy in Azerbaijan. the judge said the court will appeal to the embassy for a translator. As regards the other issues, the court can not interfere in the work of the embassy.

The hearing has been scheduled for September 29.

According to the indictment, the employees of the Main Air Transportation Customs Office found out 3.295 kg heroin in the suitcase owned by Mastura Khojayeva. Operations were carried out in “Cenub” hotel in Zarifa Aliyeva street, 31, Baku. A black suitcase with 3.330 kg heroin in it was found in the room of Pakistan citizens Ali Johar and Navaz Muhammad, 8.565 kg heroin was found in two suitcases in the room of Pakistan citizen Rahim Sajid.

Mastura Khojayeva, Ali Johar, Navaz Muhammad and Rahim Sajid faced charges under article 234 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code.
