Court accept petition to investigate phone conversation with â€œForest brothersâ€ leader Samir Mehdiyev

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. Hearing on the case of the 26-men organized gang, which is accused of forming a group â€œForest brothersâ€, committing a number of crimes, including terror attack on Abu Bakr mosque in Narimanov district continued in the Court of Grave Crimes on Monday. APA reports that Karamat Aliyev presided over the hearing. Defendant Elnur Bashirov submitted several petitions to the court to investigate his phone conversation with one of the leaders of â€œForest Brothersâ€ Samir Mehdiyev on August 17, 2008, videotapes of inspection near 20 January circle and darnagul district of Baku, as well as signature of lawyers under the preliminary investigation materials which they didnâ€™t attend. The court accepted first two petitions. Then witnesses of defendant Fariz Mammadovâ€™s detention Davud Velyev and Sevda Hasanova gave testimony.

The court hearing will continue on September 15.

The defendants are accused of committing explosion in Abu Bakr mosque and other crimes.
They faced charges under Articles 214 (terrorism), 120 (premeditated murder), 279 (creation of armed formations or groups, which are not provided by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code. 26 were detained during the initial investigation.
