Defendants’ petition granted in “Forest Brothers” trial

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Hearing on the case of the 26-men organized gang, which is accused of forming a group “Forest brothers”, committing a number of crimes, including terror attack on Abu Bakr mosque in Narimanov district continued in the Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that Karamat Aliyev presided over the hearing. The court publicized inquiries, characteristics and other documents giving by the local executive authorities about the defendants.

Defendant Elnur Bashirov said there were controversial points in the protocol about the explosion in Abu Bakr Mosque. He demanded demonstration of video tape of the site during the next hearing. The court granted his petition. Bashirov said he gave testimony under pressure.

The court hearing will continue on September 14.

The defendants are accused of committing explosion in Abu Bakr mosque and other crimes.
They faced charges under Articles 214 (terrorism), 120 (premeditated murder), 279 (creation of armed formations or groups, which are not provided by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code. 26 were detained during the initial investigation.
