APA reports that Novruz Karimov presided over the hearing. Chief of Shikhlar border checkpoint of the State Border Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Arzu Huseynov gave testimony in the hearing. Huseynov confirmed the testimony he gave in the initial investigation and spoke about the detention of Huseyn Arabul.
“Department chief, Major Samit Azizov detained a suspect on the neutral part of Azerbaijan-Georgia state border. It was Huseyn Arabul. There was no seal in his passport confirming his leaving Azerbaijan and the term of his visa expired. After that I talked to Arabul in my room,” he said.
Huseynov said a report had been prepared about Arabul’s crossing the border illegally about his detention.
Answering the questions, Huseynov said Arabul offered him bribe in exchange for his release.
“Department chief, Major Elchin Valiyev came up to me and said Huseyn Arabul wanted to meet with again. I received him again. Arabul said he will give me $30,000 if I do not report about it to the supreme command and release him. I rejected this offer,” he said.
Following this, Arabul answered the questions of the judge and lawyers. Huseyn Arabul said he does not know the persons detained with him and did not agree to the accusation.
Arabul said he did not offer bribe to anyone, did not intend to leave Azerbaijan.
The hearing will continue on September 8.

Huseyn Arabul, Turkish citizen Ayhan Donmez, Azerbaijanis – Mahir Latifov, Elnur Huseynov, Famil Guliyev, Ramal Alakbarov are accused of crossing the border illegally.

In 2007, former president of Barmek-Azerbaijan Huseyn Arabul got five-year suspended sentence with paying AZN 1.370 million. The court also passed a decision banning Arabul from leaving Azerbaijan.
