Showers caused natural disaster in Gakh and Shaki

First deputy head of Gakh region executive power, chairman of the region’s emergency situation commission Tahir Ismayilov told APA’s local bureau that the level of water in the Kurmuk river rose as a result of the showers. Several vans owned by Azerkorpu doing construction on the river were flooded. The bridges in Alibayli village were destroyed, cattle were flooded. Appeal was made to the Ministry of Emergency Situations to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster, the ministry sent rescuers to the region.

Showers also caused serious damage to Shaki region. Chairman of the region’s emergency situations commission Valeh Alakbarov told APA that the level of water rose in the Kish river, drinkable water supply of the region was paralyzed. 25m bridge uniting Verezet and Zeyzit villages was flooded.

Energy supply was cut off in the region. Work continues to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster and assess the damage.
