Captain of Georgia-detained Buket ship sentenced to two months in jail

Baku. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. “The crew members of the Buket ship detained by Georgian frontier guards in the Black Sea have not faced charges. They are held in the ship as suspects. Only the captain of the ship has been sentenced to two months in jail,” deputy chief of coast guard service of Georgian Border Police Koba Kirtadze said, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti. He said that captain of the ship Zugdidi is in prison. He faced charges of violation of customs rules and rules on foreigners’ entering the occupied territories. Poti court will determine the fate of the ship. The court is expected to pass a decision to confiscate the ship. Koba Kirtadze said if the court passes a decision to confiscate the ship, the Buket may be put up to auction through Finance Ministry.

13 of the crew members are Turkish citizens, 4 Azerbaijanis. Azerbaijanis are Tariyel Nasirov, Asgar Asgarov, Vusal Hamzayev and Akram Zamanov. The ship was loaded with 2 tones of gasoline and 700 tones of diesel fuel.
