Five Azerbaijani crew members of Turkish ship detained in India to return to motherland this week

He said the situation becomes worse in the ship, so our compatriots decided to return to motherland without getting their salaries and passports.
“We contact the ship every day. As the situation becomes worse in the ship, the Azerbaijanis decided to return. The embassy is preparing necessary documents. After the process is over, the Azerbaijanis will be sent to Azerbaijan at the cost of the embassy. The documents will be prepared within two or three days,” he said.

Habib Mammadov said the sailors decided to return to Azerbaijan, as the situation and food supply deteriorated.
“Besides, payment of salaries and return of passports is a long process. Anar Mehdiyev was diagnosed with light form of malaria. Doctor prescribed medicines and allowed him to fly on plane,” he said.

The ship owned by Turkey-based ECE A Tanker Group was detained in India. There are 10 Turkish citizens, 1 Georgian and 5 Azerbaijanis on board the ship. They are Anar Mehdiyev, Elmar Mammadov, Eldaniz Gafarov, Azadkhan Babayev and Bahruz Safarov.
