Azerbaijani Armyâ€™s retired officer Uzeyir Jafarov gives testimony on General Rail Rzayevâ€™s murder

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“APA. Azerbaijani Armyâ€™s retired officer, Colonel-Lieutenant Uzeyir Jafarov gave a testimony on the murder of Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister, Commander of Air Forces and Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant-General Rail Rzayev, Jafarov told APA.

Jafarov said he was invited to the General Prosecutorâ€™s Office Grave Crime Investigative Department last evening and was interrogated by investigator Vagif Ismayilov. He said his phone conversations, particularly his SMS to one of the close aides to the General on February 10, 2009, a day before the Generalâ€™s death, were investigated. Jafarov said he was regularly contacting with that person. â€œI acknowledged that I sent a message to that person. I also told the investigator that there are more important issues to be investigated in the case of Generalâ€™s death and I told them my versions tooâ€. Jafarov said he didnâ€™t face with any pressure during the testimony.

Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister, Commander of Air Forces and Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant-General Rail Rzayev was killed near secondary school No. 172 in Ismayil bey Gutgashinli Street, 300-400m far from his house in Inshaatchilar Avenue in Yasamal district of Baku at 07.30 on February 11, 2009. The Republic Military Prosecutorâ€™s Office launched criminal case on the fact on articles 120.2.5 (deliberate murder committed on mercenary prompting or by order, as well as with a view of use a body of a victim) and 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies (except for the smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition to it), explosives) of the Penal Code.

Rail Rzayevâ€™s aide Aydin Rafiyev and his son Anar Rafiyev, as well as the Generalâ€™s relative Colonel-Lieutenant Fuad Vasif Agharzayev were arrested.
