Interior Ministry: 9 criminal groups consisting of 19 men engaged in human trafficking were rendered harmless in Azerbaijan in the first half of this year
Struggle against criminal gangs was also effective. 141 criminal groups uniting 381 criminals, 4 organized groups consisting of 26 people were rendered harmless. Crimes committed by groups reduced by 6,2 percent, the crimes committed by the groups consisting of ex-prisoners reduced by 23.8 percent. 798 illegal firearms and 79.000 cartridges were confiscated, the crimes committed by using firearms reduced by 6 percent.
Struggle against illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking and illegal migration was also effective. The Deputy Minister noted that 735 kg of drugs were removed from illegal turnover, this is 394 kg up compared with the reporting period of last year.
Smuggling of 247 kg narcotic drugs to the country was prevented. Detection of drug crimes was increased 2.6% to 678 facts and 44 criminal groups of 110 were rendered harmless. 209 tons of narcotic plants were burned.
47 criminal facts on human trafficking were identified and 41 people were brought to justice and 9 criminal groups of 19 were rendered harmless and 60 victims of such crimes were identified.
233 foreigners without the relevant residence documents were identified and 212 of them were deported from the country.
Implementation of the duties for the improvement of environmental situation recommended by the President was also under the control. 93 environmental crimes, including 82 illegal fishing cases, 11 illegal tree cutting were disclosed and 67 people were brought to justice and 334 people were punished according to the administrative legislation.
As a result of economic crime control, 2104 banknotes of 193 000 AZN were pulled out from the turnover. The struggling of deception of consumers and production of low-quality goods was also among the priorities. 60 tons of out-of-date products, including 5000 drinks, 120 tons of construction materials, 7 000 medicines were removed from sale.
The investigation of 46.5% of 10268 criminal cases was finished and sent to the courts. 531 cases were dropped an inquiry. 68.5% of the material damages as a result of criminal cases were compensated.
Alongside with positive results, there were shortages and problems in the crime control and public security over the past period, said the report. Some territorial police offices didn’t take adequate measures to prevent negative factors in time, which increased some criminal cases such as robbery, theft and harm the human health.
