Khalid Valimatov: â€œWe changed our mind to kill Gamat Suleymanov after the order of our emir Abdullahâ€

On Thursday, hearing on the case of the 26-men organized gang, which is accused of forming a group â€œForest brothersâ€, committing a number of crimes, including terror attack on Abu Bakr mosque in Narimanov district continued in the Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that Karamat Aliyev presided over the hearing. Defendant Khalid Valimatovâ€™s testimony to the preliminary investigation was announced at the process. Valimatov told the preliminary investigation that he has prayed since 2006 and knew Gama Suleymanov in absence. The defendant said concerning the assassination attempt against Gamat Suleymanov in May, 2008 that he was aggrieved when Syleymanov called the jamaat of Sumgayit and Guba â€œdogs of hellâ€. â€œWe saw Suleymanovâ€™s address on DVD where he called the jamaat of Sumgayit and Guba â€œdogs of hellâ€. I has hated him since than. Hajibala from Sumgayit condemned the Suleymanovâ€™s speech. We decided to kill Gamat. We came to Baku in May, 2008 and looked at the area where he parked his car near the mosque. We put explosives there and waited until the evening, but Gamat didnâ€™t come. We knew from the nearby religious shops that Gamat was not in Azerbaijan. We took the explosives and returned home. Later on our emir Abdullah residing in Sumgayit sent us a message through Kamran Bozorgi that we avoid the illegal actions. Then we changed our mindâ€. Valimatov noted during the testimony that he accompanied Samir Mehdiyev and his brother-in-law Ilgar Mollaciyev when they left Azerbaijan passing through the territory of Guba and Gusar after the explosion in Abu Bakr mosque. Valimatov told the public prosecutor and judge that the testimony notes didnâ€™t concern him. He said they didnâ€™t use trench shelter in the forest for the military goals. â€œI didnâ€™t know that Ilgar Mollaciyev and Samir Mehdiyev are relatives. I signed my evidence not reading itâ€. Valimatovâ€™s lawyer delivered a petition and demanded to invite the religious scientist to the court. Then videotapes of the Valimatovâ€™s testimony to the preliminary investigation and inspection at the mosque were shown.
The hearing will continue in the second half of the day.

According to the indictment, Azerbaijanis Elnur Bashirov, Gudrat Malikov, Khalid Valimatov, Ulfat Malikov, Vahid Asadov, Zabit Shikhbabayev, Fariz Mammadov, Samir Babayev, Anar Valimatov, Rasim Isgandarov, Elshan allahverdiyev, Rafig Agajanov, Taleh Maharramov, Teymur Narimanov, Bozorgi Kamran, Azer Bakhishov, Musa Orujov, Alexander Nuraliyev, Mammad Mammadov, Elkhan Osmanov, Zaur Jafarov, Rufat Rzayev, Sardar Bunyatov, Russian citizens Magomed Isayev and Turkish citizens Yamin Ali and Ozdemir Ergin in collaboration with Ilgar Mollachiyev aka Abdulmajid and his brother-in-law Samir Mehdiyev aka Suleyman attempted to commit unrest in Azerbaijan. They are accused of committing explosion in Abu Bakr mosque and other crimes.
The defendants faced charges under Articles 214 (terrorism), 120 (premeditated murder), 279 (creation of armed formations or groups, which are not provided by the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code. 26 were detained during the initial investigation.
