Man arrested for raping 29-year-old woman, killing her and throwing body from 16th floor in Azerbaijanâ€™s capital

APA reports that Baku Main Police Office and Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office made a joint statement about it.

The statement says that Aliyeva Inara Rauf, 29, left her house in Bulbul avenue, 24, on July 22, 2009 and never came back. On July 23, Inara Aliyevaâ€™s body with signs of violence on it was found in front of her house. As a result of the measures carried out by Baku Main Police Office and Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office, Najafov Mehdi Salim, 24, was detained.

The investigations found out that Inara Aliyeva left home at 22.00 on July 22 and spent the night with her friends. At 2.00 when she returned home, worker Mehdi Najafov attacked her in the lift. Najafov took Inara Aliyeva by force to the uninhabited flat on the 16th floor, where he did repairs, and raped her. After that Najafov struck Aliyeva with a hammer to death and threw the body from the 16th floor.

Nasimi district prosecutorâ€™s office launched criminal case on the fact on Article 120.1 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code, Najafov was arrested.

Investigation is underway.
