Lawyers to continue speeches at the radical religious group’s trial tomorrow

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes on Thursday. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. Then defendant lawyers addressed the court. Accused Ramin Jalilov’s lawyer Mansum Bayramov said accusations against his defendant were groundless. He said Jalilov was not guilty in any episode of the crime. He demanded absolution verdict for his defendant.

Lawyer Gulsum Musayeva said accusations against her defendant Elshan Mammadov were aggravated artificially. She said rights of the accused persons were violated during the preliminary investigation. Musayeva said the public prosecutor didn’t consider alleviative cases.

Then the accused persons not having defending lawyers were heard. Eldar Aliyev and Ilkin Ismayilov said they didn’t agree with the accusations against them. Ismayilov said he was illegally accused in instigation. He said he didn’t know Kamran Babayev, who was introduced as a leader of organized group.

The process will be continued on May 22.

Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehraliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
