Tanzila Rustamkhanli and Sabira Mahmoudova withdraw suit against Nazim Guliyev

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Nasimi district court held hearing on the suit brought by chairperson of Azeri-Turkish Women Union Tanzila Rustamkhanli and Sabira Mahmoudova, known as “Karabakh’s Hajar”, against the founder of Ideal newspaper Naim Guliyev. The court session presided over by Judge Elman Ahmadov was held behind the closed doors.
Accused Nazim Guliyev appeared before the court. He said he repented for his actions. The plaintiffs announced that they withdrew their suit against Nazim Guliyev because of his family conditions and submitted the reconciling appeal. The court left for consultations. The hearing will be continued in the second half of the day.
Mahmoudova told journalists she didn’t withdraw her suit concerning the ban of Ideal newspaper.
Basing on the suit brought by chairperson of Azeri-Turkish Women Union Tanzila Rustamkhanli, Nasimi district court passed a judgment to hold Nazim Guliyev accountable and arrest him in November, 2008. He has been searched since then and was arrested on April 24, 2009.
The Anti-Corruption Office of the General Prosecutor’s Office charged the founder of the Ideal newspaper Nazim Guliyev under articles 182 (extortion) and 311 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is still going on.
