Hearing postponed as lawyers of Kamran Asadov and 19 others did not participate in full composition

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. Hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. It was noted that the defence did not participate in the hearing in full composition. The judge did not consider it expedient for the prosecutor to begin his speech in that composition and asked the position of the plaintiff and defence. Public prosecutor Oruj Jalilov said he could not make speech unless all lawyers attend the hearing. The lawyers also said defence must participate in the hearing.

The defendants did not agree to the opinion of plaintiff or lawyers. Defendants Ilkin Ismayilov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Kamran Asadov, Samir Mehraliyev, Kamran Babayev and others demanded the speeches to begin. The court rejected their demand. Neymanov said according to the procedural code, speeches can not begin without participation of lawyers. Following this, the lawyers of Orujov and Aliyev submitted related documents to the court. The judge declared the documents. Neymanov said next time the defence must participate in the hearing in full composition. Otherwise, the hearing will be postponed again. The hearing will continue on May 19. The prosecutor will demand sentence for the defendants.

Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehraliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
