Military servicemen accused in espionage and treason go on trial in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army, who are accused in espionage and treason, go on trial, the Military Court of Grave Crimes told APA. The preparation session of the court proceeding on the criminal case of the soldiers of N military unit of Azerbaijani Army Hamidov Parviz Zakir and Gasimov Polad Siyavushovich will take place on May 18. Judge Zeynal Aghayev will preside over the session.

According to the accusations, Hamidov and Gasimov worked for the Armenian military intelligence and committed actions damaging the national interests of Azerbaijan.

Hamidov is charged with articles 274 (treason) and 338.1 (infringement of rules on implementing fighting watch (fighting service) on duly detection and reflection of sudden attack on the Azerbaijan Republic or maintenance of its safety if this act could harm interests of safety of the state), Gasimov – with article 276 (espionage) of the Criminal Code.
