In June, 2013, Nelson Mandela was taken to the hospital with a diagnosis of acute lung infection. In November, the RSA authorities announced that his state is critical. Mandela passed away on December 5. Farewell ceremonies are currently going on. He will be buried on December 15.
Mandela was the first black president in the history of South Africa from May 1994 to June 1999. For an active struggle against the apartheid regime, Nelson Mandela was sentenced to 27-year imprisonment. In 1993, he was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize.
