Holding a press conference on the referendum organized by the separatists in Crimea, the Ambassador recalled that Azerbaijan also fell victim to such an adventure in the 90s: “This is the same signature. Just the executors have changed, methods are the same. Russia took the worst tradition of the Soviet Union that is changing the world order and violating the territorial integrity. Russia isn’t even trying to hide it. Russia was convinced that they would face Ukraine and win Crimea. However, today the world community has united more than ever before.”
Calling the Crimean parliament illegal, the diplomat said that all those involved in this process would be punished under to the laws of Ukraine: “Ukraine has brought its armed forces to the highest state of readiness. We expect any kind of aggression.”
Mishchenko noted that friendly Russian people shouldn’t be confused with the policy of Kremlin.
