Welcoming the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents in Vienna, in November, the Ambassador stated that it was an effective and constructive meeting: “The United States as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group should continue making mediation efforts in the process of settlement. It is difficult to predict when there will be a real breakthrough. But I think that the presidents’ meeting is a positive fact.”
Asked how the ongoing developments in Ukraine will affect other countries, Morningstar said: “Of course, it’s hard to say. As for Azerbaijan, our position is that Azerbaijan is a sovereign and independent country, which itself makes decision what to do and what direction to move without the pressures of other states.”
