Samad Seyidov: â€œWhoever is elected as PACE President, he or she has to take into consideration the position and voice of Azerbaijanâ€

We insist on expressing our position and compared to previous years, Azerbaijan has a stronger position now. Therefore, whoever is elected as President of PACE, he or she has to take into consideration the position, opinion and voice of Azerbaijan and I’m sure that Anne Brasseur will continue working in this direction,” Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE, MP Samad Seyidov told APA’s correspondent in Strasbourg.

As for the election of Anne Brasseur from Luxembourg as PACE President, Seyidov noted that he knows her well: “Of course, the Council of Europe is an organization where everyone can express their position, but it doesn’t mean the generalized position of the Council of Europe.”

Seyidov also said that some PACE deputies aim to exert pressure on Azerbaijan using the capabilities of the organization: “But Azerbaijan is no more the country which anyone can exert pressure on.”
