APA reports that the session will end on January 31. The agenda of the session includes election of new president and vice-presidents of PACE, Magnitsky case, impact of internet on politics, migrants’ integration into Europe.


There has also been a request for an urgent debate on the functioning of democratic institutions in Ukraine. Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann and European Parliament President Martin Schulz will address the Assembly. Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will address the Assembly, and Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz will present the traditional Communication from the Committee of Ministers, as well as answering parliamentarians’ questions.


Other topics on the agenda include combating climate change, the first ever evaluation of the Assembly’s “partnership for democracy” with the Palestinian National Council, and the accountability of international organisations for human rights violations.


Azerbaijani delegation led by Samad Seyidov, chairman of the parliament’s international and interparliamentary relations, will also attend the session. The delegation includes Rafael Huseynov, Sabir Hajiyev, Rovshan Rzayev, Fazil Mustafa, Sahiba Gafarova, Sevinj Fataliyeva, Ganira Pashayeva, Fazail IBrahimli, Elkhan Suleymanov and Aydin Abbasov.
