Anne Brasseur elected as the PACE President on the first working day of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe held a briefing with journalists. APA’s Europe correspondent reports that answering the questions of journalists, the PACE President touched on the relations with Azerbaijan: “I have worked with the Azerbaijani delegation for several years and have very good relations with them. Furthermore, I met with the speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament in 2012. Of course, we may have different opinions on some issues, but the main thing is that we have a dialogue. Everything is solved through negotiations, but for negotiations and discussions, we can’t achieve progress on any issue. At the same time, we should know history and culture of any country. I have very good relations with the head of the Azerbaijani delegation, whom I have known for many years in the Assembly. I consider that we can achieve progress gradually working together, especially, during Azerbaijan’s upcoming Chairmanship of Council of Europe Committee of Ministers.”
Brasseur said that she would visit Baku during Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship of Council of Europe Committee of Ministers.
