The embassy told APA that they discussed Azerbaijan-Lithuania bilateral ties, interparliamentary relations and cooperation in regional and international organizations.
Congratulating Loreta Graužinienė on her election as speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, the ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the level of interparliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania and stressed the importance of developing the relations in all spheres.
In addition, the ambassador noted that it is important to strengthen the activity of interparliamentary friendship groups with the view of using the parliaments’ opportunities in the development of cooperation between the two countries.
Noting that a group of parliamentarians took unpleasant steps that can undermine the relations with Azerbaijan, Speaker Loreta Graužinienė said such personal initiatives of parliamentarians will be prevented in the future.
GraužinienÄ—’s upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in 2014 was also discussed at the meeting.
At present, the friendship group with Azerbaijan at the Lithuanian Seimas has 49 members. Earlier, the group had 21 members.
