But there is no need to keep so many animals, chief of livestock products department of Agriculture Ministry Chingiz Farajov told APA-Economics.
He said as there is little land and forage in the country, the number of cattle should be reduced. Their productivity should be increased.
“We should reduce the number of cattle by 1.8 million, on condition of getting 2500-3000 k milk a year,” Farajov said.
Every person consumes 33.2k meat, 250k milk and 133 eggs in Azerbaijan every year. According to the recommendations of World Health Organization, every person should consume 70.1k meat, 359.9k milk and 243 eggs.
