According to him, very useful meeting was held between the two presidents in Davos: “Two countries intend to develop cooperation. Regional and international issues require development of relations between our countries. Trade turnover between our countries is $500 million and steps will be taken to increase this figure. Iran-Azerbaijan relations are in favor of regional security and stability”.
Touching upon visa issue, Rahimpour noted that Tehran expects Azerbaijan to cancel visa regime for Iran’s citizens: “We’d be glad if it happens”.
Answering questions on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, Rahimpour said that it was noted at the meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov that both bilateral and five-party discussions are important. He said he hopes that unsolved problems between Azerbaijan and Iran will be solved: “Caspian Sea is a sea of peace and its resources should be protected both for present and future generations”.
