Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan: “Our principled position on Syria will not change”

Baku. Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “The presence or absence of Iran in the second Geneva conference will not change Iran's principled positions, and we will support any political solution which is in the interest of Syrians, because it is the Syrians who decide the political future of their country,” said Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen while commenting on the upcoming conference on the Syrian crisis in Switzerland next week.

 

The ambassador said that our principles on Syrian crisis, are necessity of maintaining the unity and territorial integrity of the country, stop the civil war and the establishment of a ceasefire, returning of refugees to their home, humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people, finding a peaceful solution and avoiding any military intervention.

 

Mohsen Pak Ayeen also added that Islamic Republic’s support for a political solution based on a national agreement as the only way to end the crisis in Syria and Tehran’s opposition to any military intervention in Syria, pledging support for the Syrian people and government: “Iran has always expressed readiness for playing an active and constructive role in finding peaceful solutions to the regional crises, such as the one in Syria.”
