Schroeder said that the relations between the two countries had been good historically and recalled that the Germans were represented at the first Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918.
“Today, Germany is Azerbaijan’s main partner in Western Europe. The establishment of the Chamber of Commerce in 2012 was an important step in strengthening the bilateral relations. Its activity is essential for the strengthening of the relations between Germany and Azerbaijan,” - he said.
In 2013, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany increased by 32% compared to the previous year. The trade volume between the two countries in 2013 was € 3.1 billion. Azerbaijan ranks the 7th among countries exporting oil to Germany.
