EU Delegation to Azerbaijan: â€œThe final objective is to sign an association agreementâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “So we are working with Azerbaijan on possible other formats but the final objective is to sign an association agreement is still valid in the eyes of the EU,” Acting Head of EU delegation in Azerbaijan Toralf Pilz told APA.

Toralf Pilz said that they knew about Azerbaijan’s position: “That’s no change in Azerbaijani position. It has not been said that Azerbaijan will never sign it, just it is not right time to sign it now. So we are working with Azerbaijan on possible other formats but the final objective is to sign an association agreement.”

Asked whether refusal of Armenia and Ukraine to sign an association agreement with the EU means the failure of the Eastern Partnership program, the diplomat said that during the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius will discuss exactly this issue: “We will discuss collaboration with them which to be take after Vilnius. Of course we wish the ambitious agenda that we have remains valid. The EU is still committed to sign the association agreement with as many partners as possible.”
