Cemil Cicek: â€œMahammed Amin Rasulzadeâ€™s personality should be taken as an example by younger generationsâ€

Baku – APA. Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Cemil Cicek gave an exclusive interview to APA on the 130th anniversary of Mahammed Amin Rasulzade, the founder of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-1920).

“The 130th anniversary of Mahammed Amin Rasulzade, the founder of Azerbaijan Republic is celebrated and I am paying tribute to the late Rasulzade. Rasulzade, who tried to raise awareness of the Azerbaijanis publishing books, magazines and newspapers, is one of the leading intellectuals of not only Azerbaijan, but the entire Turkic world. Mahammed Amin Rasulzade fighting for the independence of Azerbaijan in the first quarter of the twentieth century when the whole world was encircled by imperialist forces is the founding leader of Azerbaijan sharing the same fate with the Anatolian Turks. Rasulzade being arrested for disobeying the Soviet regime and forced to live his last years far from his homeland should be taken as an example by younger generations. Great fighter Mahammed Amin Rasulzade enduring all difficulties for the Azerbaijani brothers and independence of Azerbaijan is a great leader. Events dedicated to the 130th anniversary of one of the most progressive thinkers of his time Mahammed Amin Rasulzade are very important. I am paying tribute to the late Rasulzade, one of the unifying figures of the Turkic world.”
