Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: Freedom House is a biased organization far from the high ideals it has declared

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has objected to the inclusion of Nagorno Karabakh in the list of “partly free” countries by the Freedom House. Spokesman for the Ministry Elman Abdullayev told APA that Freedom House, which is trying to introduce itself as a protector of human rights and fundamental freedoms, is turning a blind eye to the aggressive policy pursued by Armenia against Azerbaijan: “Instead of assessing bloody ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijanis, crimes against humanity, displacement of the Azerbaijanis from their own lands and Armenia’s provocations undermining peaceful negotiations, the organization includes in its report the so-called regime established by Yerevan in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. This shows that it is a biased organization far from the high ideals it has declared, is indifferent to the tragedy of the Azerbaijani people and pursuing the policy of pressure. With such an approach the organization and its supporters show their real face”.

Freedom House, which is an independent watchdog organization dedicated to the expansion of freedom around the world, released its annual report on January 23. The separatist regime established in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories has been included in this report as a state.
